What "War On Drugs"???
Every time I hear the term I wonder what the hell people are talking about.
Ignoring your personal views on the legalization of any given drug or drugs for a bit, try answering the following questions.
When’s the last time you heard about a SEAL team, or an Army Rangers team, taking out a drug lord and his entire crew the same way Osama Bin Laden was taken out??
When’s the last time smart bombs rained down on a drug lord’s compound, or growing fields??
When’s the last time drones took out drug loaded vehicles, boats, planes??
How many military snipers are positioned on the border taking out drug mules??
How many drug dealers in this country are taken to Gitmo or similar and never heard from again??
How many drug dealers are publicly hanged??
How many foreign country governments, where those governments know full well that drug cartels are active in their countries, have been given warnings via bombs or missiles dropping in close to their government buildings??
How many of those countries have even just had all travel to and from the U.S. suspended until they use their own military to wipe out drug cartels???
When we’re doing the above actions and more, then you can call it a War On Drugs without the quotes. So far we haven’t even come close to a war. Even if you’re in favor of legalizing all kinds of drugs like heroine, that does not change the fact that nothing has been done that is like any war.
Watch the first ‘Sicario’ movie from 2015 to get an idea of what a partial war on drugs looks like. It’s rated 7.6 on IMDB so it’s worth your time even if you already agree with my point but haven’t seen the movie. Don’t bother with the second movie.
At some point I may write a post about why even legalizing marijuana is a very bad idea, but for now here is my short argument against legalizing drugs:
Elvis Presley
John Belushi
Whitney Houston
Jim Morrison
Jimi Hendrix
Janis Joplin
Chris Farley
Prince
Michael Jackson
