Some "conspiracy theories" are still loony tunes
There's no need to go looking for complicated explanations in most cases.
With the release of the latest Project Veritas sting videos last week, many of the usual suspects chimed in very quickly to say it looked like Project Veritas had been set up or otherwise duped. These claims were idiotic. Some were made by people that just have an inherent need for things to be complicated and mysterious, with multiple layers of intrigue. Others were made by self promoting clowns just trying to cash in on the massive publicity.
Many people were pointing out that Jordon Walker had not been at Pfizer long, he didn’t have much experience if any that would justify him being put in that role, he wasn’t very bright, etc. They somehow missed the part that Walker both has dark skin and is homosexual. He is a perfect choice to enhance “diversity, equity, and inclusion” at Pfizer. He does not need to be experienced nor does he even need to be qualified. DEI does not require either, and in fact shuns both. When you realize this, and at this point everyone with common sense should realize it, you know that there is no need to go searching out complex theories about how Pfizer used Walker to dupe Project Veritas.
But that’s just one example. A couple other prominent ones for years are that the 9-11 attacks were an inside job, and that we never actually landed on the moon. On the 9-11 attacks, I would not be surprised to learn that the FBI and/or CIA and/or NSA had knowledge that an attack was fairly likely and let it happen, but no I don’t think it was done by government agencies.
For starters, yes an intense fire can weaken steel, and hot enough can melt it altogether. So no, hell no, explosives were not required to bring down the towers. The second tower hit was the first to come down because there were many more floors and thus much more weight over the burning floor. The first tower hit had a much smaller mass over it, but once that mass collapsed all it needed was to get rolling to take it down. As for building 7, there were fires in it for quite some time as well.
While I don’t rule out CIA involvement 100%, why take out both towers? Why take out the World Trade Center at all? Why hit the Pentagon, whether you think it was a plane or a missile? I guess you can go down a rabbit hole about destroying records, which I don’t see how anyone on the outside could even know where they were, why the only copies would be in the destroyed section, etc., but you did not need to have an attack on the Pentagon to end up with the Patriot Act and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. You don’t need to bring down both WTC towers and building 7 either.
Destroy or seriously damage any large prominent building anywhere and kill several hundred and you can do the Patriot Act and you can launch wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. And no I’m not going to spend hours and hours going down every rabbit hole out there and trying to determine if people I’ve never met and in most cases have never even heard of might even be credible and might have something that I could possibly verify on my own to show that 9-11 was an inside job.
The JFK assassination is a good example of being able to verify things on your own. The claims made by the Warren Commission, including that Oswald acted alone, Jack Ruby just happened to shoot him afterward, and one magic bullet went through Kennedy and did all that damage to Connally’s bones and came out unscathed, looks absurd on it’s face. There’s also way too many convenient facts that obscured evidence for it to believable. JFK’s killing absolutely looks like something planned well ahead of time by powerful people, and then covered up afterward.
As far as the moon landing, there’s a simple test that I think the conspiracy theorists avoid. Go to the observatories where they are said to bounce lasers off of mirrors placed on the moon by the astronauts. If you can confirm that those are bogus, then maybe you can make some claims. Do not try to tell me about what you see in moon landing pictures when you have no clue about lighting, exposure, and the dynamic range limitations of cameras even now, let alone back in the late 1960s.
The other issue is that a large number of the people who think we didn’t land on the moon are also flat earthers. And the flat earther people are some of the most bonkers idiots you will ever run across. I never really knew how insane they were until one of them popped up among my FascistBook friends list several years ago. At that point I did some reading about what flat earthers believe, and it really is beyond what I could have ever imagined into pure insanity.
Antarctica is actually an ice wall all around the outside of the flat disk earth that holds the oceans in. It’s also militarized and if you go near it your plane will be shot down or your ship will be sunk. There is no gravity. The flat disk earth is simply moving upward and constantly accelerating such that gravity is simulated. There are no satellites orbiting the earth. Your DirecTV, Dish Network, and GPS signals all actually come form the ground. The sun isn’t 93 million miles away and really big either, it’s much smaller and much closer.
On that last point, I forget whether the sun is supposed to be 300 miles away or about 3,000 miles away. I think it’s 3,000 miles, but it doesn’t matter. You have to be extremely ignorant and completely brain dead to believe this. You can literally watch the sun on one clear day anywhere from North 50 degrees down to South 50 degrees, and immediately know this is complete bullshit.
First, the highest point on earth is Mt Everest, and it is less than 6 miles high. Even if the sun is only 300 miles high, it will NEVER set anywhere on a flat earth!!! If the earth were flat, if the sun is hitting the “populated side” of the earth where we live anywhere, it will be hitting everywhere. Period, end of story. It doesn’t matter whether its smaller and closer, it’s still going to be visible from everywhere on the flat disk if it’s visible from anywhere else on the flat disk. This is such a simple concept you know you’re dealing with full on idiots.
Second, if it’s small and close, why does it appear bigger when it rises in the morning and it sets in the evening???!!! And in between as it traverses its arc across the sky it appears exactly the same size?? Even if you’re just accounting for the width of the United States at 3,000 miles across, this makes no sense at all. You’re on the East coast, the West coast is 3,000 miles away, but the rising sun in the East 3,000 miles away appears somehow the same size on the West coast where it has to be at least 6,000 miles away???!!! What about further West in Japan??!!
Then of course there’s that 3 hours earlier sunrise on the East coast and that 3 hours later sunset on the West coast, but that just gets back to my earlier point about how an entire flat surface is lit if any part of it is. The only way the sun appears the same size everywhere it is visible, is if it is very large and very far away, such that differences of 10,000 miles or even a bit more between two simultaneous observers makes no perceptible difference in the size. I don’t know what sort of mental defect is involved to believe in a flat earth, but is is a very, very, bad one.
And knowing a great deal about transmission methods and antenna reception patterns, I can assure you that satellite TV signals and GPS signals are NOT coming from the surface. They’re coming from near earth orbit. That’s how your Dish antenna can stay aimed at the sky, in the same direction 24/7/365 and you still get signals. And if you aim it to where it could pick up something on the ground you get no signal. (Unless you’re using ground based point to point wireless and not Satellite TV.)
This is also why you can be down in a steep valley in the middle of nowhere and still get GPS signals, as long as you preload the maps before you go into that valley where you get no cellular service at all, you’ll still see exactly where you are. Of course you can always get your latitude and longitude numbers even with no map at all. The fact you can’t get ground based cellular signals but you can get space based GPS signals lets you know that yes, indeed there are satellites in orbit. You can even see the International Space Station flying around with binoculars!
The biggest thing that all flat earthers focus on is the appearance that the earth is flat. They will post videos from planes showing how everything looks flat even from 30,00 feet or higher in a plane. The sad fact is that many flat earthers have been shown the earth’s curvature many times, but their excuse for denying the curvature is “perspective”. The best analogy I can think of is a 2 x 4, eight or ten feet long and laying flat on the ground. The board has no crown or crook, and has no twisting, but it does have 1 inch of bow such that the middle is 1 inch higher than the ends.
The flat earther will stand directly over the board looking straight down on it and claim that it is perfectly flat. If you challenge them, instead of picking up on one end of the board and looking down the length, like anyone else with a brain and the slightest bit of experience with wood knows to do with a board, the flat earther will go get a tall ladder and get up even higher, still looking straight down, and tell you how you’re crazy to think the board isn’t flat.
You can take them to large lakes where the surface is flat and show them how they can’t see things low on the shore even 10 miles away and they’ll spout “perspective” over and over like an idiot. Because they are complete idiots. Some of them think planes fly by “changing their density”. (???!!!)
In my exchange with the idiot flat earther on FascistBook, I showed him the picture below. When I took it I never thought that it would be for showing the curvature of the earth. You need to see it on a large screen for the best effect. It was taken from a point inside the petrified forest in Arizona, looking West towards Flagstaff. It was on the Blue Mesa Scenic Road very near the Blue Mesa Trailhead Towards the right hand side of the picture on the horizon, you can see snowy peaks in the distance. That is the San Fransisco Peaks above Flagstaff, and they are roughly 120 miles away.
You can break out Google Earth Pro or similar and check the elevation of the ground near the point where the picture was taken and you’ll see that there’s no high ground to account for how much of the San Fransisco Peaks are cut off. It’s an example that I took myself so it’s not something modified by NASA, which is another common refrain from flat earth believers. NASA is doing this, that, and the other to hide that the earth is flat, and to falsely claim we went to the moon.
I think my picture above is a pretty good landscape picture and I think it’s impressive that the air was clear enough to see 120 miles plus into the distance, but it’s not the best to show the earth’s curvature. Do a search for some of the pictures over lakes where other people have taken on the task of smacking down flat earther nonsense. Of course flat earthers also have no explanation for how the sun, the moon, and every other planet that you can see with a decent telescope is also clearly a sphere.
I would agree that the flat earth claims are an outlier even among “conspiracy theories”, but in many cases the other claims and other “theories” also have severe levels of lunacy. I suggest that you avoid going down those rabbit holes and stick to simpler topics where you can do some level of your own verification. You really don’t need a bunch of deep investigation and intrigue to see who the most evil people out there are and what they’re up to. It’s just nice to have full confirmation like we got last week from Project Veritas’ latest sting.
Now it will be interesting to see if I lose some subscribers because they are flat earth believers.
Interesting.
