One of the horrible logical fallacies of pro abortionists
Those wanting to keep killing babies have serious mental issues.
I’m a little behind on posts so there’s plenty to cover, but one topic stands out just now. Alex Berenson has just shown his liberalism again, by arguing for the killing of babies to continue after news of the draft SCOTUS opinion leaked. His argument is:
Making abortion illegal in some states will not stop abortion.
If a woman wants to end the life of a fetus, she will find a way to do so. If she can’t in her own state, she will travel to a state where abortion is legal. If she can’t travel, she will find an illegal provider close by. If she can’t do that, she will get a prescription for misoprostol and mifepristone. If she can’t do that, she’ll drink pennyroyal tea. If she can’t do that, maybe she’ll try a wire hanger.
Leaving aside the states where evil will remain in power, let’s just consider the legality argument. If killing babies isn’t “legal”, people will still kill babies. Let’s try applying that “logic” elsewhere:
Robbing banks is illegal, and yet people still rob banks and people often get hurt or killed when they do. We need to make robbing banks legal.
Shoplifting is illegal, but many people still shoplift. Many of those people are poor so they have to shoplift. We need to decriminalize shoplifting. (And by the way, we’ve got examples where that’s been done. How’s that working out Alex?)
Using drugs is illegal, but people still use drugs, and people die from using those drugs. We need to make drugs legal. ????!!!!
The third one is another where it’s essentially already legal. In many large cities you can openly use drugs out in public and no one will stop you. In many cities they will even put you up in a hotel, and left wing loons will even provide drug users with drugs. That’s why we have so many more “homeless” people on the streets using drugs. And not only is providing free housing and free drugs INCREASING the problem, because of course it will, it’s also costing more people their lives. And in many cases it’s innocent bystanders dying. In all cases, the lives of people who live in those areas are adversely affected, often in major ways.
So I’m not sure when or where this moronically brain dead idea started, that because people will still commit crime the thing which they are doing should thus become legal, but it’s one of the dumbest arguments in history. Either aborting babies in the womb is killing them and thus murder, or babies somehow pop into existence immediately at birth and they only deserve protection at that point. (Of course some evil liberals still want to be able to let babies die after birth if the “mother” does not want the baby.)
Of course scientifically we can establish with 100% certainty that no baby has ever popped into existence at birth. And we don’t even need science since you can see the abdomen of pregnent women swelling out further and further over time.
Again using science, and basic common sense, we can also quickly establish that the baby is NOT part of the woman’s body, but that’s a topic for another post. The fact that women will still kill or try to kill their babies, and it may lead to serious injuries to the women, is NOT a reason to allow the killing of babies to continue. Like with any other criminal activity, the fact that the crime is still committed is never a reason to decriminalize it.
Laws exist largely to protect people, and thus stopping people from killing the innocent should be the number one priority.
