"Neocon" should not be used when the correct description is 'Not Really Con'.

Don't refer to pretend conservatives as if they are newly conservative.

Some commentators that are actually conservative or mostly conservative will refer to fake conservatives as “neocons”. Tucker Carlson does this frequently, and it’s a mistake.

A “neocon” literally mean someone newly and genuinely conservative. Most of the people Tucker refers to are neither newly pretending, nor are they actually conservative. Meanwhile they are many who were on the left or somewhere floundering in the center that have been redpilled in the past 2 years or so, and they are true neocons.

While I don’t entirely agree with Carlson’s assessment in the video (linked in the picture), and at the time I thought he was off base about John Bolton, Bolton did later prove Carlson right in many way as far as his assessment of Bolton went. Bolton turned out to be another slimy weasel who was either working to undercut Trump while he was working for him, or he is simply another pathetic weakling, like John McCain and Mitt Romney, who was personally offended by Trump firing him. So he has lashed out on left wing media and by putting out his pathetic “tell all” book to cheers from the left.

McCain’s and Romney’s pathetic weakness and self esteem issues were/are so bad that they took/take their spite out for Trump by harming this country and its citizens with their Senate votes, so they are worse in the big picture. But Bolton’s running to left wing media sources to get their accolades after Trump fired him was also pathetic, and of course proved he was no true Conservative. Not even close. Even though he’s not, calling him a “neocon” is still incorrect. Call him an opportunistic RINO, a jerk, an asshole, pathetic, etc., or even pretend conservative.

This is another case of where terminology matters, and invoking the name of Conservatism when talking about sleazeball pretenders is a bad idea. Tucker has rightfully slammed Bolton again and again, but he needs to use more appropriate terms for Bolton and others in the never Trumper camp.
