My brief explainer on where fascism belongs on the political spectrum

It’s rare that I do more than one post on the same day, but the one I just finished has a paywall. This one does not, and it’s short and to the point. I typed up the block quoted text below a couple weeks ago in reply to a typical leftist claiming fascists were on the right and just pasted it below. I’ve got other posts showing my rough draft of the real political spectrum, but it needs some revisions that I’m not going to do yet.

You don’t really need a visual to destroy left wing arguments about fascism being on the right anyway. You can just go down a simple list as you compare real life communism which they admit is on the left to real life fascism:

Try comparing life in fascist Germany under Hitler to communist life in Stalin's Russia. They were VERY similar.

What you did not have in either regime, that Conservatives who are actually on the right champion:

1. Freedom of speech

2. Freedom of religion

3. Freedom of assembly

4. Freedom to petition the government

5. The right to keep and bear arms

6. The requirement for probable cause and a warrant to search your home

7. The right to remain silent when charged with a crime

8. The right to be judged by a jury

9. A presumption of innocence

10. All of the above and more specific limits on the powers of government enshrined in a founding document.

11. A system of checks and balances as opposed to an all powerful leader

These concepts are so basic and obvious, and so antithetical to both communism and fascism, that anyone claiming fascism is anywhere on the right near Conservatism has to be brain dead to really believe that, or hiding under a rock for their entire life level ignorant. I don't care what bizarro history or other leftist claims you find to say Nazis were closer to Conservatives or in any way on the right, it's complete BS.

Going further right you find libertarians, who want all drugs legalized, who mostly want government even smaller, and in agreement with leftists who think it's fine to murder babies.

Anarchists want no government at all and often express a desire for chaos, which is a completely unsustainable situation that leads to a 180 degree flip to tyranny as some faction rises up to take control.

What you should find alarming as a leftist is how so many leftists now have abandoned their hard core free speech support and anti war positions of the past. They are now anti free speech and super pro war. And a war that is not in U.S. interests either. All the more similar to both communists and fascists.

Listen to some of the anti war songs of leftists from the 1960s and 1970s and try to square the new blind support for war in Ukraine now, the risk of WWIII and nuclear conflict be damned.
