Another case where left wingers sang a different tune in the past. Flu hype versus Corona hype.
This one again features the far left wing HuffPo.
Just like with the issue of voting machines,
https://chrischambers.substack.com/p/remember-when-left-wingers-claimed?r=rxgyq
the story on respiratory illness deaths was 180 degrees opposed in the past. In the article linked below, the HuffPo makes many claims that when used by anyone today to highlight the massive inflation of actual Corona deaths, left wing media pounces to “fact check” and even censor the truthful data that literally comes straight from the CDC.
The biggest fact today is that about 95% of all Corona deaths had multiple other serious comorbidities, such that calling all of them Corona deaths is an egregious lie. We can talk about the financial incentives for hospitals to list patients as Corona deaths later.
When you read the article you should marvel at the similarities to truthful sources on Corona today:
Because the flu was rarely an "underlying cause of death," the CDC created the sound-alike term, "influenza-associated death."
Using this new, loose definition, CDC's computer models could tally people who died of a heart ailment or other causes after having the flu. As William Thompson of the CDC's National Immunization Program admitted, influenza-associated mortality is "a statistical association ... I don't know that we would say that it's the underlying cause of death."
The CDC's decision to play up flu deaths dates back a decade, when it realized the public wasn't following its advice on the flu vaccine. During the 2003 flu season "the manufacturers were telling us that they weren't receiving a lot of orders for vaccine,"Dr. Glen Nowak, associate director for communications at CDC's National Immunization Program, told National Public Radio. "It really did look like we needed to do something to encourage people to get a flu shot."
The CDC's response was its "Seven-Step 'Recipe' for Generating Interest in, and Demand for, Flu (or any other) Vaccination," a slide show Nowak presented at the 2004 National Influenza Vaccine Summit.
Here is, again, a far left wing source admitting that the CDC started hyping flu deaths years ago in order to get more people to get flu jabs. In other words, the CDC was doing the marketing work for the drug companies that made flu shots. And of course today the CDC is just part of the left wing apparatus (and many non left wing sources, unfortunately) that is doing the fear porn and thus marketing for Corona “vaccines”.

Then article’s headline is literally ‘Don't Believe Everything You Read About Flu Deaths’. You can just change “Flu Deaths” to “Corona Deaths” and most of the same points they make in the article apply.
One key difference now with Corona is that the deaths are listed simply as Corona deaths, and not “Corona associated deaths”. You can find some rare instances where one of the “health officials” admits how big of a factor comorbidities are and talks about deaths “with Corona” as opposed to “from Corona”, but for the most part truthful commentary on this issue is going to be labeled as “false” and the self appointed arbiters of truth will claim that indeed the people died of Corona. The additional fact that in most states the average age of death for those listed as Corona deaths is near or even above the age of life expectancy be damned.
By all means follow the link to the “Seven-Step Recipe” found at HuffPo, but their Cliff’s Notes version describes the Corona scamdemic to a tee:
Here is the "Recipe that fosters influenza vaccine interest and demand," in the truncated language that appears on his slides: "Medical experts and public health authorities [should] publicly (e.g. via media) state concern and alarm (and predict dire outcomes) - and urge influenza vaccination." This recipe, his slide show indicated, would result in "Significant media interest and attention ... in terms that motivate behavior (e.g. as 'very severe,' 'more severe than last or past years,' 'deadly')." Other emotive recommendations included fostering "the perception that many people are susceptible to a bad case of influenza" and "Visible/tangible examples of the seriousness of the illness (e.g., pictures of children, families of those affected coming forward) and people getting vaccinated (the first to motivate, the latter to reinforce)."
The CDC unabashedly decided to create a mass market for the flu vaccine by enlisting the media into panicking the public. An obedient and unquestioning media obliged by hyping the numbers, and 10 years later it is obliging still.
Oh the irony of the last paragraph that I put in bold. Do you suppose that anyone at the HuffPo will be writing a critical follow up where they admit that the HuffPo has been all in on doing with Corona just what they said the media was doing with the flu???
